How much do Roblox ads cost?
Updated 4 November 2026 · By ClipClip
The short answer
Roblox ads have no fixed price: you set a budget and Roblox bids for you. Its own benchmark was $0.0073 a play (November 2025), so $10 buys about 1,370 plays. You pay by card in US dollars, or with ad credits at 263 Robux each.
How Roblox charges for ads
- You set a daily or lifetime budget, and Roblox's auto-bidding does the rest. Your reports show the cost per play: what you spent divided by the players who started your game from the ad.
- Ads show as sponsored tiles on Home and in Search results.
- You pick a goal: Plays (players most likely to start a session), Engagement (highly engaged players, the kind your game needs 250 of to open to under-16s; expect a higher cost per play) or Earnings (players most likely to spend Robux, still limited).
- The first 24 hours are a learning phase, and plays can take up to 48 hours to show in your reports.
What a play costs
Roblox's own benchmarks, as of 11 November 2025 (its goals had other names then):
| Goal | Average cost per play |
|---|---|
| Maximize plays | $0.0073 |
| Reactivate users | $0.011 |
| Drive retention | $0.0113 |
| Acquire new users | $0.0187 |
Developers who showed their dashboards report about $0.006 to $0.008 a play, and the worst report we found was $0.024. Targeting raises the cost: a broad campaign is cheaper than a narrow one. At the benchmark, by our arithmetic:
| Budget | Plays at $0.0073 each |
|---|---|
| $10 | 1,370 |
| $50 | 6,849 |
| $100 | 13,699 |
Ad credits: what they cost in Robux
Since 10 September 2025, 1 ad credit costs 263 Robux (285 before). You can buy as few as 1, and turning Robux into ad credits can't be undone. Unused credits come back to you when a campaign ends.
| Ad credits | Robux |
|---|---|
| 1 | 263 |
| 10 | 2,630 |
| 12 | 3,156 |
| 16 | 4,208 |
| 20 | 5,260 |
| 50 | 13,150 |
| 100 | 26,300 |
- Anyone 13 or older with a verified email can advertise, and pay with Robux.
- Paying by card (in US dollars) is for 18 and over. Roblox holds $1 to check a new card, and charges first-time card users $5 when they submit a campaign, applied to their first bill.
- Roblox's ad docs give no dollar price for an ad credit.
Are Roblox ads worth it?
What ads do well: bring real players into your first minutes, fast and cheaply; show which thumbnail gets clicked (a campaign spreads its views over its images at first); and show whether players come back.
What they don't do: rank you on Home. Home judges a game only on the players its own recommendations sent, so ad players don't count, and your Home views can dip after a campaign (Roblox says that's not a penalty).
When they pay for themselves: a play at $0.0073 costs about what 2 Robux pay out at Roblox's standard DevEx rate ($0.0038 a Robux). So if the players an ad brings spend more than about 2 Robux each within 30 days, the ads earn back their cost. That's our arithmetic, at the benchmark: use your own cost per play.
Roblox's own results, in October 2026: across 21 campaigns measured against control groups, ads added a median 14% more play sessions and 10% more players still playing after a week.
Your first campaign
Roblox's advice for a new game, from its 2026 updates:
- Pick the Plays goal, with a small daily budget, for 3 to 7 days.
- Run a targeted and an untargeted campaign side by side.
- Upload several genuinely different 16:9 thumbnails (up to 10).
- Change nothing for the first day or two: pausing restarts the learning.
- Judge after 7 to 10 days, by your game's day-1 and day-7 retention and its Robux per player, not by the ad. If players leave, fix the first minutes before spending more.
Questions
How much do 12 ad credits cost on Roblox?
3,156 Robux, at 263 Robux an ad credit.
How much is 20 ad credits on Roblox?
5,260 Robux.
Are Roblox ads worth it?
For a new game, yes as a test: they bring real players for under a cent each, show which thumbnail gets clicked and whether players come back. They don't rank you on Home, and no budget fixes a game players leave.
What's the minimum you can spend on Roblox ads?
You can buy as little as 1 ad credit. Roblox's docs give no minimum campaign budget; a first card payment is $5, applied to your first bill.
Do Roblox ads help the algorithm?
Not directly. Home ranks a game only on the players its own recommendations sent, so players from ads don't count toward it. Ads get a game played and judged sooner.
