How to make your Roblox game public

Updated 4 November 2026 · By ClipClip

The short answer

Publish the game from Studio, then release it: File, Publish, answer whether it has age-restricted content, and click Publish. Or in the Creator Hub: Publish settings, Manage audience, Manage access, Public. A new game opens to age-checked players 16+ first; younger players come later.

Before you start

To release a game to players 16+, Roblox asks for:

  • An account in good standing, at least 2 days old.
  • An age check: facial age estimation or a government ID.
  • One answer: does the game have age-restricted content?

A new game is first published privately: only you, people with Edit access and, for a group, members whose role allows it can play it.

Step 1: publish from Studio

  1. In Studio, File, Publish. The Game details window opens.
  2. Add an icon and a thumbnail, the name, a genre and a description.
  3. Click Save. The game is on Roblox, still private, with its own universe ID.

Step 2: release it

  1. File, Publish again. Click Invite to let up to 10 friends test it first, or Continue.
  2. Answer the first question of the Maturity & Compliance Questionnaire:
    • No age-restricted content: the game gets a Content May Vary label and opens to age-checked players 16+.
    • Yes: answer the whole questionnaire. The game gets a label from your answers and opens to age-checked players 16+ or age-verified players 18+.
  3. Click Publish.

Already published? In the Creator Hub (create.roblox.com), open the game, then Publish settings, Manage audience, click Manage access, pick Public and save. Limit it to friends, or to group members for a group's game, if you want a smaller test first.

Then: reach players under 16

Roblox Kids (5 to 8) and Select (9 to 15) accounts can't play a new game until it passes Roblox's evaluation, which takes the full questionnaire, a verified account, 2-step verification, a refundable fee or a subscription, and 250 highly engaged players. Every step: how to make your Roblox game all ages.

If it still looks private

  • The release didn't go through. Check Manage audience: it says who can play the game now.
  • The 5-a-day limit. You can release up to 5 games a day that were never released before.
  • Updates count as releases. Publishing a new version, Publish As to another game or changing the audience all need the same requirements met.
  • A friend can't join. Until the game is open to all ages, only age-checked players 16+ can play it.

Public isn't played: what brings the first players is in how to get more players on your Roblox game.

Questions

How do I change my Roblox game from private to public?

In the Creator Hub, open your game, then Publish settings, Manage audience, Manage access. Pick the Public tab and save. Or, in Studio, File then Publish, answer the first question about age-restricted content, and publish.

Can I make my Roblox game public without an ID?

Yes. Releasing to players 16+ needs an age check, and facial age estimation counts as one. A government ID is needed only to reach players under 16, and only if you're 18 or older.

Why can't players under 16 join my game?

Every new public game opens to age-checked players 16+ first. Reaching younger players takes verification, a full content rating, a fee or a subscription, and 250 highly engaged players.

Why does Roblox say all my experiences are private?

Passes and developer products belong to a published game that players can reach. Make one of your games public, then create the pass in it.

Can I make my Roblox game public on mobile?

Once the game is published from Studio, yes: its release setting is on the Creator Hub website, create.roblox.com, which opens in a phone's browser.

How many games can I make public a day?

Up to 5 games that were never released before. Making a game private and public again doesn't count.
