How to add a video to your Roblox game's page

Updated 5 November 2026 · By ClipClip

The short answer

Upload a gameplay video in the Creator Dashboard: your game, Configurations, Places, your place, Videos. Roblox reviews it; once approved it plays first on your game's page and on its tile in Home's Recommended For You. It has to be real gameplay, with no voice and no music with lyrics, and you get 3 uploads a month, rejected ones included.

Where it plays

  • First on your game's page, since 13 November 2025.
  • On Home: approved videos play in Recommended For You. In Roblox's tests (7 to 26 June 2026), two games with a video got 30% and 41% more plays from Recommended For You, and 31% and 39% more playtime. Roblox calls these directional results, not guarantees.
  • Not on Xbox, PlayStation or VR headsets.

On 5 November 2026, 36% of the 905 games on Roblox's charts had an approved video on their page, and 55% of 2026's 40 biggest new games. Most games on the charts still leave it empty.

Roblox's rules

AllowedNot allowed
Real gameplay, from any camera angle (free camera helps)Anything your game doesn't have: mechanics, interface, places
Highlight edits: not in order, as long as it's real playVoice-overs, narration, voice chat, music with lyrics
Your game's logo over the videoAds, promotions, subjective claims ("best game ever", "50% off")
Your game's own interface textReal-life footage, or anything from outside your game
Small brightness or contrast changesGraphics enhanced beyond what players see
Tracks from Roblox's catalog, under its licensingCinematic trailers and dramatized gameplay on Home

Added text should be rare and only describe the gameplay. Every video is reviewed before it shows.

How to upload it

  1. Open the Creator Dashboard and pick your game.
  2. Go to Configurations, then Places, and pick the place.
  3. Open Videos in the left menu and upload the file.
  4. Wait for the review. Once approved, it shows on the page and can play on Home.

You get 3 uploads a month, and a rejected one still counts: check the rules above before each.

What the top games' videos do

We studied the page videos of 21 top games, measured with code where their cuts fall (23 October 2026):

  • Music carries them: 19 of the 21 have music, and 9 have no game sound at all.
  • Most cut every 0.5 to 2 seconds, and the lively ones land their cuts on the music's beat.
  • Runs of the same action tell the game's loop: one shows eight egg steals in three seconds, one per beat.
  • Plain gameplay works: several are only gameplay with the game's own interface, plus music.
  • Little text: most show only their logo, over the last 2 to 3.5 seconds.

The videos on the charts' games ran 17.7 to 56.5 seconds when we measured them (22 October 2026), most about 30, all wide. Your Home tile plays the video when someone pauses on it, so open on the most exciting moment. The picture still matters too: how to make a thumbnail that gets clicked.

Questions

How long can a Roblox game page video be?

Roblox's docs give no limit. The videos on the charts' games ran 17.7 to 56.5 seconds when we measured them in October 2026, most about 30 seconds.

Can I put music in my Roblox game's video?

Yes, without lyrics. Roblox allows tracks from its own catalog, under its licensing terms, and bans music with lyrics, voice-overs, narration and voice chat.

Can I add a YouTube link instead?

No longer. YouTube links were removed from Roblox game pages on 30 September 2026: upload the video file itself.

Why was my Roblox video rejected?

Most often a voice or lyrics, promotional text such as "50% off", footage from outside the game, or something the game doesn't have. A rejected upload still uses one of your 3 a month.

Does the video play on consoles?

Not yet: Xbox, PlayStation and VR headsets don't support video thumbnails.
