What Roblox game should you make? The genres of 919 chart games

Updated 6 November 2026 · By ClipClip

The short answer

Simulation, and within it tycoons and incremental simulators: that's what's winning and rising on Roblox. On 6 November 2026, Simulation games filled 39% of Roblox's main charts and drew 34% of the players on chart games; they made 15 of 2026's 40 biggest new games and 55 of the 98 on Up-and-Coming. They're also the most crowded: the median Simulation game on the charts had 2,780 players online, a Survival game 8,046. Pick a genre that's winning, then the one twist that's yours.

On 6 November 2026 at 21:35 UTC, we read every chart Roblox lists (26 of them, all countries and devices): 919 different games. For each, Roblox's public data gave its genre and subgenre, its visits, the players in it at that moment and the day it was made. We count genres on the 10 charts that rank every genre together (600 games), since Roblox's "Trending in" charts give each genre its own fixed number of places.

Players now is each genre's share of everyone playing one of the 919 chart games at that moment (7,719,098 people); players per game is the median game's, among the genres with 10 games or more on the main charts. Survival has fewer games but bigger ones: 8,046 players for its median game, against 2,780 for Simulation's 235.

The biggest new games are those made in 2026 with the most visits; visits favor the ones out since January, so the same year's 40 with the most players on 6 November 2026 are beside them. By subgenre, the year's 40 biggest:

  • Tycoon (8): Kick a Lucky Block, Ride A Pet, Mini War and Storage Hunters: Open World.
  • Deathmatch Shooter (6): Sniper Arena, Murder Duels, Deagle Arena and Pistol Arena.
  • Incremental Simulator (6): +1 Speed Keyboard Escape, +1 Speed Monkey Escape, Slime RNG and Build A Ring Farm.
  • Tower Obby (3): TROLL Hug Tower, Would You Rather: Boys & Girls Outfit Tower! and Would You Rather: Teamwork Outfit Tower!

Waves move fast. 6 of the 40 biggest by visits are duel and arena shooters, but 1 of the 40 with the most players now; incremental simulators are 6 and 9.

What's rising, and what's fading

Made in 202326%
Made in 202429%
Made in 202533%

We call a genre rising only when it takes a bigger share of the main charts' games made in 2026 than of older ones, by more than chance would explain (Fisher's exact test, p under 0.05), and a bigger share of 2026's 40 biggest new games than of 2020–2024's 40 biggest too. Falling is the reverse. By that rule:

GenreMade in 2026Made before2026's biggest new2020–2024's biggest

Incremental Simulator (rising)17%8%6 of 403 of 40

Action (falling)7%13%2 of 406 of 40
Roleplay & Avatar Sim (falling)5%13%2 of 408 of 40
Life (falling)2%5%1 of 405 of 40

"Made in 2026" is the share of the 281 main-chart games made this year, "made before" of the 319 older ones. In Roblox's words, a tycoon simulates running a business or a base, often with money from "droppers"; an incremental simulator grows a counter through simple repeated actions. Falling doesn't mean players are leaving: Roleplay & Avatar Sim still drew 14% of the players on chart games, but its old giants hold them (Brookhaven RP, Adopt Me! and Dress To Impress), and new ones rarely break in.

Mixed signals, counted as neither: RPG (2% of the games made in 2026 against 11% before, but 2 against 0 among the biggest), Action RPG (1% of the games made in 2026 against 9% before, but 2 against 0 among the biggest) and Open World Action (1% of the games made in 2026 against 5% before, but 0 against 0 among the biggest). Every other difference could be chance.

What's growing right now

Up-and-Coming is Roblox's chart of games published in the last 28 days, sorted by how fast their players grow: the closest thing to what's breaking in this month. On 6 November 2026, its 98 games by subgenre:

  • Incremental Simulator (19): +1 Boxing Battle Evolution, +1 Spider Arm and Punch Out Of Prison.
  • Tycoon (14): Farm Evolution, Steal A Balut and Scare Your Neighbor.
  • Physics Sim (8): Ragdoll Physics, Ragdoll Research and Ragdoll Reality.
  • Vehicle Sim (7): Onthel Purwodadi, Can You Pass A Driving Test? and Tesla Roadster Chase.
  • Escape (5): MALAM SAMA OPAH, South Hell and 13 Days to Escape.

Many of them pair a proven loop with one new idea: a number that grows with every step, a thing to steal, a body that flops. Roblox's own advice cuts the other way for copies: a game with the same title and visuals as an earlier one may rank lower in search.

How to pick yours

  1. Start where players are. Simulation leads on games, players and new hits, and Up-and-Coming shows the loops breaking in this month. A less crowded genre with bigger games, like Survival, is the other bet.
  2. Keep the loop, change one thing. The hits keep a loop players already know and change one idea: what you grow, what you steal, where you escape. A straight copy ranks lower.
  3. Make it small enough to finish. A simple game you ship and keep improving beats a big one that never comes out.
  4. Name it for what you do. Most of 2026's hits say the action in two to four words: what 905 chart games' names share.
  5. Show it in the thumbnail. A character reacting to your game's main action: what the chart games' thumbnails show.
  6. Measure, then decide. Your play-through rate and retention against similar games tell you whether to keep going: where to read them.

How we measured, and what it can't show

  • The games: every game on every chart Roblox listed on 6 November 2026 at 21:35 UTC (919 games, 26 charts, all countries and devices), from Roblox's public data. The main charts are the 10 that rank every genre together: Top Trending, Up-and-Coming, Top Playing Now, Fun with Friends, Top Revisited, Top Earning, Top Paid Access, Top Rated, Most Popular and More When You Subscribe.
  • The genres are Roblox's labels, picked by each game's developer and reviewed by Roblox. A game can have no subgenre.
  • The charts show what's big, not what will be. A genre that fills them today is no promise for a game made next month, and the older games on today's charts are the ones that lasted, not every game made those years.
  • Being on a chart isn't revenue. Roblox publishes no game's earnings; its Top Earning chart only ranks games by the Robux spent in them over 7 days. Players now is one moment, a Friday at 21:35 UTC.

Questions

What type of Roblox game should I make?

One you can finish, in a genre players want now. On 6 November 2026, Simulation games (tycoons, incremental simulators, physics and vehicle sims) were 39% of the games on Roblox's main charts and 55 of the 98 on Up-and-Coming, Roblox's chart of games published in the last 28 days. Then add the one twist players can't get elsewhere.

What are the most popular Roblox game genres?

By players online on 6 November 2026: Simulation (34%), Survival (15%), Roleplay & Avatar Sim (14%) and Action (9%) of everyone playing a game on Roblox's charts. By games on the main charts: Simulation, Action, Roleplay & Avatar Sim and Survival.

What Roblox games will blow up?

Nobody can know: the charts show what's big, not what will be. What did blow up in 2026: 15 of the year's 40 biggest new games were simulation games, and 25 of the 40 with the most players on 6 November 2026, most of them tycoons and incremental simulators such as Kick a Lucky Block, Ride A Pet and +1 Speed Keyboard Escape.

Is it too late to make a tycoon or a simulator?

Not by the charts: on 6 November 2026, 55 of Up-and-Coming's 98 games, all published in the 28 days before, were simulation games, 14 of them tycoons and 19 incremental simulators. It's also the most crowded genre, so your twist matters more there.

How do I set my Roblox game's genre?

In the Creator Dashboard: your game, then Publish Settings, then Game Details, where you pick a genre and, if one fits, a subgenre. You can change it once every three months. Roblox reviews genres and may correct one that looks wrong, and its Charts use it for their genre lists.
